Arable Agriculture
We manage 2,000 acres of arable land along the South Cambs-Essex border, comprising a mix of owned and contract-farmed land.
Our Farming Practises
At Rectory Farm, we grow a variety of crops including Wheat, malting Barley, Sugar Beet, Oilseed Rape, seed crops, Peas, and Beans. We also sublet land for potatoes with a nearby grower.
As part of utilising our organic manure in our arable practises, we fatten 3,000 store lambs on stubble turnips undersown into standing crops. This process utilises digestate from our lagoon, reducing our reliance on artificial fertilisers. The manure from the lambs is then cultivated into the following years crops, for organic nitrogen content in the soil.
